Trench coats to take you through any season

Coats and jackets are as essential in Irish weather as sunglasses are in Californian weather which dictates that I am always on the hunt for my next jacket/coat purchase. If you have read a few of my blog posts, particularly my post on how to style a leather jacket (which you can read here) I think it’s quite clear that I have a special place in my heart for leather jackets. When it comes to coats there is one that in my opinion ranks above the rest and this is of course a trench coat. Trench coats hit the fashion light in the early 1900’s with the help of the fashion house giant Burberry and has yet to take a hiatus from that limelight. I have recently just purchased my first trench coat and I cannot explain how excited I am to get styling and creating endless looks. Timeless adaptability is the best way that I can think to describe the beauty and functionality of a trench coat, remarking anything else would almost be an understatement. Trench coats are without a doubt an investment piece which is why I had to write this post on why it should be an essential in everyone’s wardrobe.

For me I feel like this is the ideal time to invest in a trench coat. The weather here in Ireland is being its usual dreary self so in reality it is more like autumn than summer (sad face). Every day I am grappling between which jacket/coat I’ll have to wear to survive this weather with my realisation hitting that a trench coat is the perfect coverage. It has a lot of the qualities and the practicalities of a leather jacket in the fact that it is the perfect sort of ‘lightweight’ cover up for summer that can easily be made cooler wearing a camisole underneath or warmed by wearing a sweater underneath. This makes a trench coat a must in your wardrobe especially in your collection of coats.
For my 20th birthday I was so kindly gifted money which of course I had to spend on firstly sunglasses (there will be a future blog post on these amazing sunnies) and secondly the coveted trench coat. I had been browsing online in anticipation of this purchase and ultimately decided to buy an Asos trench coat. There was a number of reasons why I chose to spend my money on an Asos trench, there was the fact that I had a 10% discount (I mean who doesn’t love a discount!) and I also was very interested to see how the quality and the craftsmanship of the design matched up to other brands.

I have had this coat in my possession for about a week now and I can without a shadow of doubt say that it has exceed my expectations and has become a quick favourite in my closet. I am bubbling over with excitement even just thinking about all the new styling options I have gained with this addition to my collection and spend my nights thinking about the numerous combinations. I cannot give a high enough rating on purchasing a trench coat and I urge you all to obtain one for yourself. I am definitely looking to save up and purchase the Queen of trench coats which is of course is the all mighty Burberry. It is assuredly on the pricier side of things, being a luxury item and all but I have no doubt that it would be a piece that would be in your wardrobes for decades.

If you don’t take my word for it why not check out these gorgeous options to choose from at various price points. My adoration for trench coats is unequivocally growing with each passing day and I can assure you that it will become a massive feature on this blog.

What is your opinion on trench coats? If you love them as much as I do, let me know in the comments down where your go-to place would be to purchase one!
