The best of the Spring/Summer 2018 Resort collections Part 2

If you read my blog post from Monday, you will all know by now that my current fixation has been with the Spring/Summer 2018 Resort collections that graced the runways in May. With men’s fashion week in current progress I realised that while I spend hours viewing the latest shows, I never really write that many posts dedicated to theses spectacles of craftsmanship which if I’m honest was mostly due to the fact that I didn’t know if people wanted to read a post filled with my thoughts and viewpoints on the latest luxury runway show. After reflecting and debating for a few weeks about it I realised that I have a genuine passion for exploring my interests through my writing and in essence the creative process unleashes a new side of me that allows fashion to resound more clearly with me.
With that little explanation over and done with, I have come to the conclusion that I am going to continue to compose pieces on my favourite runways as they happen and will become a huge part of my blog. Without a doubt, I will be still incorporating as much beauty, lifestyle and other fashion content as I can and will try to keep somewhat of a balance in my posts. Whew!

Now finally onto the soul of the post at long last. I published a blog post on Monday as mentioned above which was some of my favourite runways of the Resort collections (which you can read here). Today I am going to continue this with a part 2 of my favourite collections where I will include 3 more beautiful brands that created luxurious and gorgeous collections. I have oodles of runways that I would love to talk about but I think for now I am going to conclude the final part in this series on Monday with the last 3 shows.

Gucci

Where to even begin with this collection! Jam packed from start to finish with pieces left, right and centre that only in my dreams could I imagine these masterpieces gracing my body. Alessandro Michele has done wonders with floral prints that are indicative of the 70’s, tights and shoes that are a girl’s cosy dream and headbands glittering in gold that would be fit for any queen. I am speechless with the intricacy that was brought to every look, the styling from the tip of the head to the bottom of the feet was absolutely flawless and frankly faultless. Gucci with every collection that is unveiled on the runway is able to harness this “cool girl” vibe that is hard to put into words yet is unquestionably Gucci and certainly keeps me coming back for more with each passing season. Michele was able to create a balance within each look by matching patterns, textures and statement jewellery pieces which brought the entire collection together immaculately as always. Gucci is no doubt a front runner in the fashion industry, a brand that instead of following trends, creates them season by season, pushing against the “bounders” and the limits that are set. There is no item I have found that Gucci is afraid to style whether it is pilot helmets, turbans or pattern motifs that shouldn’t work together but just do when the minds of Gucci grab a hold of it. Gucci reigning over this seasons Resort collections in no surprise so my eagerness to see their collection in September is almost palpable!

Fendi

This is another brand that retains its monstrous success season after season under the deft touch of Karl Lagerfeld. Fendi is world renowned for the works of art that are their handbags yet I and many others have noticed that the handbag scene is not the only avenue they are dominating at the moment. When it comes to sock boots Fendi does it like no other and this Resort collection proves no different. The contrast in colours of the all-white boot with the tip of the boot in a bold colour such as blue, tan and orange is utter perfection and is the quintessential piece to pull the 70’s vibe all together. 70’s seems to be the trend that is littering the runways yet it’s amazing to see each collection take a different route with the same era in mind. The longline coats envisioned by Fendi are to die for and paired with the pointed toe boots we will all be strutting the street looking like 6 feet tall supermodels (isn’t that everyone’s dream). My adoration for the Fendi house is not a new one by any means and is largely due to the silhouettes and the bright colours that they are not afraid the use to create elegant pieces with. From this collection, I am absolutely fawning over the use of the bright yellow colour that can easily be a hit or a miss, of course with Fendi it is a complete showstopper everywhere it appears, fundamentally those are the looks that stay in my mind’s eye so vividly. Ultimately Fendi and Lagerfeld have taken the best of the 70’s, upgraded it to 2018 impeccably in regards to their handbags and attire alike with a few pearl details thrown in there for good measure which completes the collection perfectly.

Sachin & Babi

If elegance is your cup of tea than you need not go any further that this Resort collection pioneered by creative director Babi Ahluwalia. This fashion house is a newcomer in regards to my experience of Resort collections yet in my eyes this brand is making a name for itself amongst the fashion giants that dominate the industry. You need only take one glimpse at this collection to realise that contemporary allurement is their specialty which has been created with such artistry that I nearly feel that these pieces belong in a museum behind a thick glass box so no harm may meet these items of genius. The primary colour that is present throughout this collection is a rich dark blue which to begin with is a colour filled with poise that ultimately suits any skin tone, this is offset with whites, purples and reds alike which couldn’t make a dreamier collection colour palette wise. The incorporation of bows which dot the shoulders of dresses or cinch the waists in various looks is so classic and frankly understated that I feel the need to see more with each passing look. The styling of the models is another thing that I must mention undoubtedly, natural makeup with slicked back hair that is tucked behind the ear allows the tassel earrings that are as statement as the clothing to shine through and grab the attention accordingly which for me furthers the contemporary message of the brand. After browsing the entire collection from start to finish I have come to the conclusion that I have fallen in love with the aesthetic of this brand from the models to the clothes adorning the models!
