The best of the Spring/Summer 2018 Resort collections

The Spring/Summer collections of 2018 have been in full swing these past few weeks much to my delight with unforgettable fashion houses such as Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton and many more unveiling next year’s collections for the fashion world to fawn over. Like many, I have spent my early mornings in bed scanning through these breath-taking collections, each with its own inspiration and point of view while methodically pinning these stunning shows to Pinterest boards precisely for this blog post. There is so many shows that I want to talk about and share my feelings and views on so I am thinking that this will post will be just one in a series of blog posts dedicated to the Spring/Summer 2018 Resort collections. Let me know in the comments down below what you think of this idea and would you like for me to continue this for the next seasons to come!
Today I will talk about 3 Resort collections that have hit the runway these past few weeks and will continue this series on Friday where I will delve into 3 more shows (so you have that to look forward to!). I am so passionate about fashion so when it hits Resort season which I love, it’s almost the market I use signalling that Fashion Week in September is just around that glorious corner. Without further delay, here are the 3 shows that have hit the runway this past month catching my eye in the process.

Although I would love to spend my days writing about the beauty of this collection, I have already explained my adoration for this collection at great length in my Grecian Goddess blog post (which you can read here). I know that I technically didn’t have to include Chanel’s resort collection in this post and I did think about leaving Chanel out but I just couldn’t do it. I had to include this collection in the best of blog post because honestly this was my favourite collection of the entire year (a massive statement to make) and believe me I have viewed A LOT of collections and nothing has seemed to top Chanel’s 2018 Resort collection in my eyes. From the Grecian inspired silhouettes coupled with the vibrant gladiator sandals that graced the runway surrounded by a Greek inspired ruin, what was not to love? Karl Lagerfeld has outdone himself with this literal blast into the ancient past that he has injected flawlessly into this collection with poise and control that only a seasoned creative director understands how to do. He has shown that “ancient” does not have to reside in the past alone, that it can grace the Chanel runway as easily as it graced Grecian royalty in the 12th century.

Maria Grazia has certainly solidified her position as Dior’s creative director after the monstrous success of this western inspired collection. Bolo ties, skinny leather belts topped with cowboy hats completed the finished looks that walked the dusty gravely terrain which was Dior’s runway for the evening. No word I could ever write would even come close to describing the magnificent detailing that inhabited each and every look in a unique and sometimes subtle manner. Of course, the sheer numbers that have not only knocked the socks off the fashion world but have also graced the bodies of many red-carpet celebrities made an appearance in this collection like it has the past number of shows. I must admit this is one of my favourite Dior designs not only for the authenticity of the silhouette that Dior brings which has made it an iconic piece in the Dior house but also for the intricacy it takes, the craftsmanship in the embroidery that hugs the bodice of each unique dress.  Much like Chanel, Maria Grazia has taken a point in the past that has not yet been reinvented and has created a western themed haven that I can envision becoming an essential trend of Spring/Summer.

Chloé, a vision of bohemian vibes all around the fringing of the brand that Claire Waight Keller has furthered with this spring/summer 2018 Resort collection.  If 70’s is the era for you, then Chloé has got your every desire covered with warm beige dresses detailed with fringing, blouses to match bell-bottomed trousers in all manners of warm autumn colours with my most desired pair of boots for the season, a stunning pair of over the knee boots adorned with fringing to drive home the bohemian attitude. I can picture these boots becoming as trendy and as sought after as the Stuart Weitzman boots of last season that favoured the feet of many and became the focal point of countless outfits. The explosion of the 70’s in 2018 that has been sparked by Keller will no doubt become the focal trend of next season with the trusty Nile bag in tow. With Natacha Ramsay Levi taking over for Keller I am sitting anxiously at the edge of my sit waiting to see if she continues this vision of brilliance. Either which way, this is a phenomenal collection that desires a position in this best of post and has given me a new-found desire to be embellished with a pair of fringe boots and a feather weight broderie anglaise billowing dress.
