Confidence: your greatest asset

This is a topic that I am very passionate about, everybody and their neighbour has spoken or written about this topic so I thought I might as well put my two cents in as well. For me confidence is the backbone of success. You may have the best idea for something truly revolutionary but don’t have that confidence to say it, explain it or even explore it and worst of all it leaves you feeling disappointed in yourself. We have all been there, trust me. Lack of confidence is funnily enough something that unites us all. There has not been one person who has had sky high confidence all their life and that is the reality of it.

It often times looks like it from the outside that ‘so-and-so’ never feels insecure, never questions themselves and always knows exactly what to do but that couldn’t be further from the truth. More often than not these are just the lies we tell ourselves so we don’t have to push ourselves to gain that confidence. This is something I have struggled with myself, and would often recite to myself ‘fake it till you make it’ like it was mantra. And while this helped to a certain extent it definitely was not the magical phrase that brought confidence rushing back into your life like an old friend that’s for sure. Looking back, it was not that I didn’t believe in myself because I always have, it was more about what other people might think about me, what other people might say about me and that is what was holding me back.

Its most assuredly not been an easy journey to get the point where I am and often still can double think my opinions because this person might not agree with them, but realistically I don’t and will certainly not spend the rest of my life worrying about someone else’s opinion. As quickly as that shadow of doubt enters my mind I cast it aside like a pair of old shoes and continue on. Confidence is a constant work in progress, I definitely know all about it, but once you alter your mentality it will become a hundred times easier. Instead of fighting against yourself why don’t you become your biggest cheerleader, after all you ultimately are the one constant in your life no matter what happens.

There is a few take home points that I want to make before I finish, these are things I wish I had heard and would definitely have made the process easier so I hope they can help you with your confidence building even if it’s just a little bit!

1.   Always strive to be the best version of yourself no matter where that path takes you.

2.   Don’t be afraid to stand out, its these qualities that you have that will you bring you your greatest success.

3.  Focus all your energy on yourself, don’t worry about what anyone else is doing.

4.   Clothes and makeup are great tools for your confidence but don’t let them become your crutch. Be sure in yourself that if these things were stripped away you will still have faith in your judgement and opinions.

5.   Love yourself, and do everything in your power to make yourself happy first and foremost. This will ultimately lead onto self-assurance and confidence leaving positive vibes as an aura around you.

There is nobody in this whole entire world that does you better than you so bring that sparkle and shine into your world and know that the sky is not the limit when confidence is your driving force.
